Mishen (Meesh en) was a “brown-box” kitty I got in front of a Target store in southern California in the early 90’s. Not sure of the exact date but I had recently returned from Russia & I still had the trip on my mind. I picked Mishen out of the box & immediately fell in love with her tiny meow, her big green eyes, her beautiful coat, her everything. I ended up naming her Mishen, “Target” in Russian… I brought her home and put her in the bathroom with the door cracked open to gradually get acquainted w/ my other cats-4 at the time- and soon I had myself a new family ( I figured one more kitty wouldn’t hurt — a long story I won’t get into!)
As a kitten, she immediately went to work using up some of her 9 lives. She was curious like all cats, and while exploring the 2nd floor balcony, she fell over the edge onto the concrete below. I frantically ran below to get her, picturing the worst, and finding her just a bit dazed & confused, but ok. She did manage to scrape her nose pretty well, hence the little scar she had for the rest of her life. She never got into much trouble after that and she managed to save up the last of her 9 lives til the very end, when she needed them the most.
Mishen was my baby girl, the little pretty one, kinda spoiled & always deserving of it. She was a wise cat, and very patient with me in the end as I tried my best to take care of her. I absolutely learned more from her in the last year or so of her life about love, healing, faith, and patience, than I could have ever learned from anything or anyone else. For whatever reason, Mishen blessed me with her life and her presence, and for this I am truly grateful. I will always miss, adore, and think of my sweetest kitty, Mishen. Boo misses you Mish. I keep you in my heart, baby girl & will see you again I know.
